@neko13-san: Yes!! It is, Vayle is a loa of specifically New Orleans voodoo. There will also be a lot of the loa of the Ghede family who are actually a part of the real-life voodoo religion. I want this comic to be a narrative, but also semi-educational about a religion I respect highly :>

@neko13-san: I find all aspects of voodoo fascinating. My favorites are the Ghede family and I will never claim to be an expert, but out of the two I find the Petro family/nation/nachon to be more interesting to learn about. My favorite loa under the Rada family would be Loco (or Loko) I have a huge connection to healers, and I love his connection to nature, plants and mainly trees. My favorite loa under the Petro family is Marinette Bwa Chech/Marinette Pied Cheche. She is most associated with revolutions and freedom and is said to be harsh and violent to show that the path to freedom is harsh a lot of the time, but necessary. I find her so interesting a personality and she crosses over a lot with some Mexican goddesses I loved as a child. All in all I love the dichotomy of the Rada against the Petro, how if it was modern american sort of religion it could be seen as good and evil but something I love is that they are more 'hot' versus 'cold', which is so interesting to me. I'd love to hear your thoughts on them as well! I would really love for the comments on these be as much a discussion of voodoo as it is my narrative :)

@ThatGhoulArt:

wow, just absolutely wow. I don't know as much about voodoo as you do, and Honestly, I don't feel as though I can probably keep up deep conversation regarding it.

I just got into voodoo, because I was curious about my heritage. So, I did a little more reading on the ceremony, and the basic delineation between sects. I'm actually happy that you pointed out the "hot" and "cold"

So, please correct me if I'm wrong, but Petro is hot and Rada cold, right?

As for my favorite deities, I've always been fascinated with the one's who can be tricksters, the one's who are protective, and or the one's who act as intermediaries.

So, I like Baron Samedi. I mean I know that he can be a bit of a pervert, but I find it interesting how he can comfort the dead. IN some cases, I believe he can be called for justice.

Then there's Erzuli. She can be like a nurturing mother, and as fearsome as a badger or wolverine if her children are threatened. I've heard a couple stories of her violence. But, her love of sweets, and jewelry makes me think she can be playful too.

Then There's Legba. He acts as the intermediary, and I've always been fascinated with individuals who kind of play the role of gate keepers, or mediators. So, I always wonder what his impression of Samedi, and his wife Bridgette would be like.

I also like Dumballah the snake. I've read a couple of things about him representing wisdom and him appearing very aloof, but then I read about his wife Ayida and her relation to rainbows. rainbows are so bright and sweet.

And I have one more Ogoun. I know he can be a bit violent, but I like the blacksmith aspect of him. the aspect to "forge ahead".

Anyway, Yeah. I'm not formally trianed, and I've only read a couple of stories regarding these people, and their influence on independence for people.

But, yeah, I'll be sure to check out your favorites, and hopefully I can speak with you again. I'm just get really excited when someone makes a comic, or animation, regarding voodoo because it's not really something popular. Or rather their tends to be a common theme to what we see on TV, Movies, and other media regarding the subject.

But, yes, I'm super excited seeing as I'm not that familiar with Ghede. So, yeah. Good luck.

@neko13-san: I'm glad you were able to get into it and learn about your heritage! It's a very beautiful religion and culture.

Yes, Petro would be hot and Rada would be cold.

Oh yes, Samedi is a joy to read about and his nature is interesting. He has this lewd, crass side and is the man to dig your grave, but then he is also a healer. He is the one who can keep someone alive forever simply by refusing to dig, and can heal any ailment. He is so interesting, and I will definitely be showing him later on.

If you like the tricksters and those who are protective, I definitely recommend looking into Ghede Nibo, as he is one of my favorite members of the Ghede family/nation/nachon.

Legba is great, and I also do wonder what his impression of Samedi and the Ghede family would be like.

If I can find a way to best add links, I may start adding some links to the resources that started me off on my discovery of the religion so that people can learn more. Thank you for your response, and I am sorry for my long ramblings back. Voodoo is something I love talking about and getting passionate for. I hope I can do the religion a bit of justice, as you are right, it is not as popular as it deserves to be- and very streamlined when it is shown.

I hope you enjoy the comic and what is to come!

Oh, goodie I was right, and I will be sure to check out Ghede Nibo...wow, just wow, I have so much to say. But, I look forward to reading your comic.

And if you do decide add links, I look forward to that as well. I just can't wait!

I'm going to end it, here because I don't want to fill your comment section with an essay-cause I have that tendency. But, good luck.
